Broadcom Inc. is seeking an experienced RF engineer to work with design, integration, test and qualification engineers on cutting-edge RF switches and filters for wireless front-end modules.

You will develop RF characterization setups, automate tests, and model FBAR/SAW devices, while performing 3D EM co-simulation and yield analyses to ensure robustness for high-volume production.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Engineering with 6+ years of RF experience.
• Proficiency in RF/EM engineering and semiconductor physics.
• Experience with RF modeling tools such as ADS, HFSS, Cadence and Allegro SiP.
• Finite element modeling: piezoelectric, acoustics, thermo-mechanical, RF domains.
• Filter, switch, PCB, die layout design and modeling experience.
• Strong understanding of high-power RF, noise measurement concepts.
• Hands-on RF test equipment experience: spectrum/network analyzers, signal generators, power meters, scopes, load-pull systems.
• Python and MATLAB programming; test automation experience.

Responsibilities

• Characterize front-end modules for high-power, nonlinear, and noise performance.
• Design and synthesize RF filters using FBAR technologies; develop models for high‑Q resonators.

Job description

The successful candidate will work closely with the design, integration, test and qualification engineers to develop cutting edge technologies for high performance RF Switches and Filters used in wireless front-end modules. We are seeking expertise in supporting engineering activities related to development of test setups, design, modeling and characterization of SOI and FBAR/SAW devices. Your daily responsibilities include development of new RF characterization setups and automation tools to evaluate RF switches, resonators, filters and front-end modules for high-power, nonlinear, and noise performance characterization. As part of this role, you will be involved in the design and synthesis of RF filters using acoustic FBAR technologies. Your responsibilities will include developing models for high-Q resonators for various design environments, physical die layout, and module PCB design. Additionally, you will perform 3D EM co-simulation as well as yield and tolerance analysis to ensure design robustness for high-volume manufacturing. As a highly skilled RF engineer, you will be participating in R&D activities to implement characterization and qualification plans, reviewing test results, generating reports, and providing feedback to our global design, quality and processing teams. You’ll consistently work on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues.

Required Skills:

• Master’s or PhD in Engineering with 6+ years of related experience in RF front end module building blocks, filters, switches, and semiconductor devices, PhD degree is preferred.
• In-depth proficiency in RF/EM engineering and semiconductor physics.
• Expertise with RF modeling tools such as ADS, HFSS, Cadence and Allegro SiP.
• Experience with finite element modeling: piezoelectric, acoustics, thermo-mechanical, and RF domains.
• Filter, switch, PCB, die layout design and modeling experience is desired.
• Strong understanding of small-signal linear, nonlinear, harmonics, intermodulation, high-power RF, and noise measurement concepts.
• Knowledge and hands on experience with RF test equipment: spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, function generators, power meters, DC supplies, oscilloscope, multi-meters, load-pull systems, and probe stations, working with RF components such as couplers, filters, duplexers, amplifiers, and isolators.
• Programming skills using Python, MATLAB is required.
• Test and instrumentation automation experience is desired.
• Proficiency in trouble shooting of test bench and RF equipment.
• Excellent organizational skills, accountability, ownership, and team-oriented attitude.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is USD 121,900.00 To USD 195,000.00 As a valued member of our team, you'll be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and the opportunity to receive not only a competitive new hire equity grant, but also annual equity awards, connecting your success directly to the company's growth. All subject to relevant plan documents and award agreements.
