Field Application Engineer (FAE) Overview
We empower smarter business operations by connecting equipment, software, and services to protect, control and optimize assets within electrical infrastructures. The Field Application Engineer (FAE) will provide advanced technical sales support for Cloud Service Providers (CSPs), hyperscale datacenters, AI infrastructure companies, and OEM platform developers. The FAE engages directly with system architects, power engineers, and design teams to position, specify, and support high‑efficiency power conversion solutions including board‑mount power, front‑end power, and AI‑optimized power architectures. The FAE acts as the technical extension of the sales organization and as the customer advocate within engineering and product management.
Responsibilities
- Utilize knowledge of the OEM power supply marketplace, including typical customer requirements, competitor offerings, and application trends in networking, data centers, servers/storage, and OCP to provide technical expertise to the hyperscalers.
- Support assigned customers in a technical sales capacity and provide assistance in identifying new opportunities.
- Coordinate activities with the GAMs and provide technical guidance to establish sales strategies at the assigned accounts.
- Act as a customer advocate with the ability to communicate voice of customer needs, product gaps, and concerns to the executive management level.
- Present technology roadmap seminars to customers and communicate their feedback to product management.
- Maintain knowledge of market trends, competitive actions, product needs, and customer base.
- Create new product technical requirements, work closely with R&D to guide product development, prepare datasheets and other product technical documentation, help develop product presentations and provide technical product support to customers.
- Understand customer applications to determine new product features and performance needs.
- Analyze competitor products and be aware of the competitive landscape.
- Help develop the product and technology roadmaps.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum 4 years of experience solving technical issues and providing high‑level customer support and value through technical expertise in the power industry.
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the typical workweek.
- Candidate must be located within the Bay Area.
Desired Characteristics
- Minimum 8 years of experience within the power electronics industry.
- Advanced engineering or technical degree.
- High proficiency using applicable software such as Microsoft Outlook and Office, sales empowerment tools.
- Experience in CRM/SFDC.
- Experience in an electronic manufacturing organization.
- Background in power supply manufacturing, design, OCP, HVDC.
- Basic knowledge of staged gate engineering development process.
- Sound knowledge of AC/DC and DC/DC topologies, standard analog and power supply circuit design approaches, use of digital interface protocols (I2C, PMBus).
- Understanding of agency requirements for power conversion products: safety standards, electromagnetic interference (EMI) standards, input surge requirements, and harmonics standards.
- Lab skills: multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, spectrum analyzers.
- Ability to understand and implement customer and industry standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with customers and senior management.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Effective customer presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills to meet multi‑tasking expectations.
- In‑depth knowledge of OEM product lines and markets in the data center.
- Ability to manage time, budget or expense parameters.

- Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.

Compensation
Compensation Range: $105,000 – $139,400. The final offer amount will be dependent on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
