Job summary

Katy Christian Ministries is seeking a dedicated individual to oversee the receiving area for the food pantry. You will ensure donated items are weighed, logged, and stored properly while maintaining safety and efficiency.

The role includes facilitating pickups and supervising volunteers in a fast-paced warehouse setting. Responsibilities include inspecting food quality, maintaining safety procedures, and operating a box truck as needed.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain Food Handler Certification.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Driver’s License with ability to drive a box truck is required.
• Forklift and stock picker certifications are preferred.
• Warehouse experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of incoming food donations, including weighing and logging pounds received.
• Inspect daily food quality and safety; remove out-of-date or spoiled items.
• Ensure safe handling and transport of food items.
• Sort, date, store, and stock items on shelves and coolers using FIFO.
• Train volunteers on receiving tasks.
• Coordinate pickups of food waste and pallets with third parties.
• Record refrigerator/freezer temperatures daily on the log.
• Maintain neat, hazard-free work area and proper trash disposal.
• Monitor and maintain warehouse processes for efficiency and safety.

Job Description

• Under the direction of the Senior Food Pantry Receiving Manager, oversee all aspects of incoming food donations inclusive of - Weigh and log number of pounds of items received.


• Inspect the quality and safety of all food arriving daily; destroy any outofdate or spoiled.


• Ensure proper care and procedures are followed when transporting food.


• Ensure all incoming items are sorted, dated, stored, and stocked to shelves and coolers using FIFO rotation.


• Assist in training all assigned volunteers in receiving tasks.


• Contact 3rd parties for pickup of food waste products and wooden pallets.


• Drive box truck for food pickups as necessary.


• Ensure Food Pantry receiving area is operated safely and efficiently inclusive of:


• Review and implement warehouse processes to make sure that operations are running efficiently.


• Review safety practices and processes for receiving donations and update as necessary.


• Maintain a neat, hazardfree work environment; watch for slips, trips, and falls hazards and transport all trash to outside containers.


• At the beginning of each day, record the temperature of each refrigerator/freezer on the corresponding temperature log.


• Maintain storage space by checking dates and distributing the food that is nearest to expiration.

Qualifications

• Monitor KCM box truck and lifts for regular maintenance and fuel/gas levels.


• Obtain and maintain Food Handler Certification.


• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook


• Ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment


• Valid Driver’s License required, with the ability to drive a box truck


• Forklift and stock picker certification preferred


• Strong multitasking ability


• Effective verbal and written communication skills


• Excellent organizational skills


• High School Diploma or GED


• Warehouse experience is an asset
