Qualifications

  • Hawaii adjuster licensing must be obtained and maintained.
  • Minimum 5 years of property claims experience, including field adjusting experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve property claims.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities.
  • A customer-first mindset and the professionalism to remain calm and empathetic in high-pressure or emotionally challenging situations.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing a mobile, field-based schedule.
  • Ability to climb, kneel, crawl, and lift up to 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory, with occasional travel outside the region.
  • Successful completion of required pre-employment drug testing and health screening.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough on-site property inspections, including scoping, photography, documentation, and estimates.
  • Investigate and evaluate first-party property claims to determine coverage, damages, and claim exposure.
  • Review policies, leases, contracts, by-laws to evaluate claim validity and coverage.
  • Communicate professionally with policyholders, contractors, attorneys, vendors, and internal partners.
  • Use claims estimating tools to prepare, review, and validate estimates.
  • Partner with Subrogation and Fire/Fraud Investigations when appropriate.
  • Maintain complete claim documentation and activity notes.
  • Establish and maintain claim reserves, updating as info changes.
  • Prepare professional claim correspondence including RO and denial letters.
  • Negotiate settlements within authority levels.
  • Represent Heritage in legal proceedings as needed.
  • Stay informed about construction practices and local market costs.
  • Respond promptly to questions from policyholders and partners.
  • Identify and report safety, regulatory, or compliance concerns.
  • Travel throughout the territory with occasional travel outside region.
  • Participate in CAT and surge operations.

We are looking for an experienced Field Adjuster to join our team in the Honolulu area.

About the Role

As a Field Adjuster, you’ll be responsible for handling moderate-complexity, first-party property claims that require on-site inspections and hands-on expertise. You’ll investigate losses, assess damage, prepare estimates, evaluate coverage, and negotiate fair and appropriate settlements.

This is a highly visible, field-facing role. You’ll interact directly with policyholders, contractors, public adjusters, attorneys, vendors, and other professionals—often helping people navigate the claims process during some of the most stressful moments in their lives.

The ideal candidate brings strong property claims experience, sound technical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently while remaining a trusted representative of Heritage.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct thorough on-site property inspections, including accurate scoping, photography, documentation, and preparation of written or computer-assisted estimates.
  • Investigate and evaluate first-party property claims to determine coverage, damages, and claim exposure.
  • Review policies, leases, contracts, by-laws, and other documentation to evaluate claim validity and coverage.
  • Communicate professionally, clearly, and empathetically with policyholders, public adjusters, contractors, attorneys, vendors, and internal partners.
  • Use industry-standard claims estimating tools and technology to prepare, review, and validate estimates.
  • Partner with internal specialists, including Subrogation and Fire/Fraud Investigations, when appropriate.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely claim documentation and activity notes in accordance with company standards.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves, updating them as new information becomes available.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and professional claim correspondence, including Reservation of Rights and denial letters.
  • Negotiate settlements within established authority levels and appropriately
  • Represent Heritage in legal and alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including depositions, Examinations Under Oath (EUOs), mediations, and trials, as needed.
  • Stay informed about construction practices, repair methodologies, local labor and material costs, and market conditions.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to questions from policyholders, customers, and internal business partners.
  • Identify and report safety, regulatory, or compliance concerns.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory, with occasional travel outside the region.
  • Participate in catastrophe (CAT) and surge operations, which may require extended hours, overnight travel, and temporary reassignment.
  • Comply with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
