Job summary

Washington Trust Bank is seeking a senior WMAS risk and compliance leader in Portland, OR. The role oversees fiduciary risk, compliance programs, and enterprise risk governance across WMAS, coordinating risk assessments, reporting, and escalation with senior leadership and regulators.

You will mentor the WMAS Compliance Officer and analysts, manage cross‑functional risk governance, and drive improvements in controls, policies, and reporting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience including supervisory, risk management, compliance oversight, audit, or governance reporting.
• Experience in fiduciary, trust, investment management, or regulatory liaison roles at a financial institution preferred.
• Strong knowledge of fiduciary risk management, internal controls, and regulatory expectations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the administration and improvement of the WMAS risk framework and oversight.
• Coordinate periodic risk assessments and document risk categories, inherent risk, and control effectiveness.
• Prepare consolidated risk reports, dashboards, and committee materials for leadership and auditors.
• Oversee vendor and third‑party risk oversight and due diligence coordination.
• Mentor the WMAS Compliance Officer and analysts; manage workload and performance input.
• Escalate significant or high‑risk matters to WMAS leadership and committees.
• Collaborate with Corporate Risk, Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit and other stakeholders.
