Job summary

FOCUS Broadband in North Carolina is hiring a Construction Technician to install, maintain, and support our broadband infrastructure using trenchers, backhoes, borers, and locating equipment. The role requires reading maps and plans, performing routine maintenance, and adhering to safety rules and CDL requirement.

You will work with a team to complete projects, operate company vehicles, and participate in on-call and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous heavy equipment operation experience required.
• 10-hour OSHA construction certification preferred.
• Valid CDL Class A or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Interpret staking sheets and installation specs for underground and aerial plant construction.
• Operate trenchers, backhoes, or borers to bury plant and service drops.
• Perform underground installation, repair, and aerial work as assigned.
• Maintain equipment and complete routine maintenance.
• Complete job documentation and reports.
