Job summary

Hardy Industries seeks skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our national client base. You will perform OTDR tests, fusion splicing, testing, and documentation across diverse environments, from retail to data centers.

Ideal candidates have fiber testing experience, knowledge of OTDRs and certification devices, and the ability to read diagrams and schematics. This is a 1099 contractor role with on-site work and travel within an 80‑mile radius.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators.
• Understanding of single‑mode and multi‑mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, IT, or Telecom experience, and one of the following: FOA Certification, CFOT Certification, BICSI Certification, Network+ Certification, OR 5+ years verifiable Fiber, IT, or Telecom field experience.

Responsibilities

• Fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical techniques.
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification.
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification.
• Connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation.
• Patch‑cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement.
• Installation, termination, and testing of single‑mode and multi‑mode fiber optic cabling.
• Identification and troubleshooting of customer‑premise and network‑side impairments.
• Documentation of test results, splicing records, and project deliverables.
• Work independently across environments including retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecommunications, and data center facilities.
• Maintain professionalism with clients and project stakeholders.
• Be available to accept service requests within your coverage territory depending on your availability, NOT FULL TIME
