Job summary

Shentel is seeking a Fiber Technician I to maintain and expand its fiber optic network. This field position involves working in varying weather conditions, performing basic fiber prep, splicing, installation, and repair from the POP to the customer premise using fusion splicing equipment.

Under supervision, testing and certification of fiber is conducted. The role requires strong communication with customers, contractors, and internal teams, and willingness to work flexible hours including

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required for the role.
• 1 year of Construction experience preferred.
• 1 year of Field Network/Installation/Maintenance experience preferred.
• 1 year of Telecommunications experience preferred.
• Ability to fusion splice both loose tube single and ribbon fibers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand Shentel's fiber optic network.
• Perform basic fiber preparation, splicing, installation and repair from POP to customer premises.
• Test and certify fiber under supervision.
• Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and company personnel.
