Job summary

Shentel is seeking a Fiber Technician II to maintain and expand its fiber optic network. This field role covers fusion splicing, installation and repair from the POP to customer premises, using fusion splicing equipment and OTDR testing.

You will work in various weather conditions with minimal supervision and communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and company personnel. Qualifications include a High School Diploma (Associate's/Technical Degree preferred).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associate/Technical degree preferred.
• 2 years fiber splicing experience required.
• 2 years field installation/maintenance/ Construction and telecommunications experience required.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand Shentel's fiber optic network.
• Perform intermediate to complex fiber preparation, splicing, installation and repair from the POP to the customer premise using fusion splicing equipment.
• Test and certify fiber with OTDR and related equipment.
• Communicate professionally with customers, contractors and company personnel.
