Job summary

Shentel is seeking a Fiber Technician II to maintain and expand its fiber optic network. This field role handles fiber preparation, splicing, installation and repair from the POP to the customer premise using fusion splicing equipment.

Under minimal supervision, you will test and certify fiber and communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and company personnel in diverse conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; an Associate's/Technical Degree preferred.
• 2 years of Fiber Splicing experience required.
• 2 years of Field Network/Installation/Maintenance/Construction experience required.
• 2 years of Telecommunications experience required.
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and personnel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand Shentel's fiber optic network.
• Field position; work in varied weather conditions.
• Perform intermediate to complex fiber prep, splicing, installation and repair from POP to customer premise.
• Test and certify fiber using appropriate equipment.
• Communicate professionally with customers and team members.
