Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks in outdoor utility environments, with a safety-minded culture and hands-on problem solving.

You will operate fusion splicer and testing equipment (OTDR, power meter), prep splice enclosures, and work on varying shifts with overtime, offering competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Comfort working on ladder or bucket truck.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
• Operate testing equipment and resolve common fiber network challenges.
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures (Tyco, CommScope, Corning).
• Utilize fusion splicer, OTDR, DWDM, CWDM, OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter.
• Fiber design knowledge, reading documentation, understanding light levels and dB loss.
• Work at outdoor utility construction sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In Addition, You Will

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites
