Job summary

Pramira Inc. seeks a Fiber Splicer in Brea, CA to install, test and maintain fiber optic cables in underground and aerial setups. You will splice fibers, test equipment, and ensure continuity across various cables and closures.

The role requires 1–3 years of fiber experience and familiarity with fusion splicing equipment. A flexible schedule and ability to work at heights and in confined spaces are needed.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience installing and testing fiber optic cables.
• Experience with fusion splicing and testing equipment including listed tools.
• Ability to climb and work at elevations and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Fusion splice SM ribbon and loose tube fiber optic cables and terminate connectors (ST, SC, LC).
• Install and test closures on all types and sizes of cables.
• Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems; review maps, drawings, blueprints and testing documents.
• Perform daily testing and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
• Conduct optical continuity and conformance testing.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Fiber Splicer is responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic cables in underground and aerial applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Fusion splices SM ribbon and loose tube fiber optic cables, to initiate or terminate various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC, LC).
• Installs and tests pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable.
• Analyzes and troubleshoots basic technical problems or issues.
• Reviews, interprets, and works with various maps, drawings, blueprints and testing documents.
• Performs daily testing and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
• Performs optical continuity and conformance testing.
• Makes splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in underground, aerial and building work locations.
• Adheres to company policies, regulations, procedures, and principles.
• All other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 1-3 Years Experience with installation and testing of fiber optic cables.
• Working knowledge of using various fusion splicing and optical testing equipment including, Alcoa Fujikura, GN Net Test, EXFO, Fitel, Sumitomo, and Viavi.
• Working knowledge of GS150 and GS350 Fiber Jetters.
• Ability to climb and work at elevations (e.g., from ladders, poles, lift trucks, etc.).
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Flexible schedule, with hours of day and days of week.
