Job summary

Planet Networks is seeking a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician for in-person work to support expanding operations. You will perform shingle and mass fusion splicing, and handle installation, testing and repair of fiber optic cable.

Responsibilities include installing and maintaining fiber networks, locating faults, testing end-to-end service, and ensuring accurate terminations on cross connects, panels, hubs, and routers. 3+ years of fiber splicing experience ideal.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in fiber cable construction, splicing and repair preferred.
• Proficient with hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Perform cable installation, construction, maintenance, and repair works.
• Possess knowledge in all types of splicing activity, fiber and safety test equipment and use of all types of fiber construction equipment.
• Locate and repair faults to maintain existing network without causing signal failure interruptions.
• Validate and test end-to-end service provisioning for the fiber network.
• Confirm accurate cable terminations on cross connect, patch panels, hubs, and routers.
• Review site surveys, conditions discrepancy reports, design drawings, technical manuals for fiber installation feasibility.
• Understand construction prints and splice schematics.
• Read and interpret existing fiber records, on maps or in the field.
• Install and dress fiber optic cabling within splice enclosures and various fiber termination panels (indoor and outdoor).
