Job summary

Pramira is seeking a Fiber Splicer to install, test, splice, and maintain fiber optic cables in underground and aerial applications across California. The role emphasizes safety, precision, and working with diverse fiber equipment and connectors.

Ideal candidates will have 1–3 years of fiber experience, familiarity with fusion splicing and testing tools, and the ability to work at elevations and in confined spaces. This is a hands-on field position requiring flexibility in schedule.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years' experience with fiber optic installations, splicing and testing.
• Proficient with fusion splicing and optical testing equipment (Alcoa Fujikura, GN Net Test, EXFO, Fitel, Sumitomo, Viavi).
• Familiar with GS150 and GS350 Fiber Jetters.
• Able to climb and work at elevations (ladders, poles, lift trucks).
• Able to work in confined spaces.
• Safety-conscious and flexible with schedule.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splices for SM ribbon and loose-tube fiber optic cables and terminate connectors (ST, SC, LC).
• Install and test closures on various cable types and sizes.
• Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems.
• Read and interpret maps, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents.
• Test and maintain splicing and testing equipment daily.
• Conduct optical continuity and conformance testing.
• Rearrange splices on existing facilities in underground, aerial, and building locations.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety rules.

Job Description

The Fiber Splicer is responsible for the installation, testing, splicing, and maintenance of fiber optic cables in underground and aerial applications.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Fusion splices SM ribbon and loose tube fiber optic cables, to initiate or terminate various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC, LC).
• Installs and tests pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable.
• Analyzes and troubleshoots basic technical problems or issues.
• Reviews, interprets, and works with various maps, drawings, blueprints and testing documents.
• Performs daily testing and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
• Performs optical continuity and conformance testing.
• Makes splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in underground, aerial and building work locations.
• Adheres to company policies, regulations, procedures, and principles.
• All other duties as required.

Qualifications

• 1-3 Years Experience with installations, spicling, and testing of fiber optic cables.
• Working knowledge of using various fusion splicing and optical testing equipment including, Alcoa Fujikura, GN Net Test, EXFO, Fitel, Sumitomo, and Viavi.
• Working knowledge of GS150 and GS350 Fiber Jetters.
• Ability to climb and work at elevations (e.g., from ladders, poles, lift trucks, etc.).
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Safety-conscious.
• Flexible schedule, with hours of day and days of week.

Additional Information

Pay range: $22-$25/hr. DOE
