Job summary

Pilot Fiber, a New York City–based fiber-optic network provider, is seeking an experienced Fiber Splicer to join our field team. You will splice, test, and enclose fiber, work in outdoor and underground environments, and ensure safety and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ year experience splicing high-count fiber-optic cables in outside/inside plant environments.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot fiber-optic networks with field equipment and GIS applications.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs and work standing for long periods.
• Valid, clean driver's license with MVR check.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and organize splicing schematics, work orders, and maps for splicing work.
• Work at multiple NYC metro area locations in outdoor, underground, and in-building settings.
• Prepare and maintain a clean, well-stocked vehicle with inventory of tools and consumables.
• Report fleet or worksite incidents promptly and accurately.
• Set up work zones using safety cones, signs, and lights in all weather.
• Route and organize cables in outside and inside plant environments for splicing prep.
• Perform single and ribbon fiber optic splices on various cable types.
• Build and maintain fiber-splice enclosures in underground and indoor settings.
• Use OTDR/OPM/VFL/LFM and GIS to troubleshoot network issues.
• Update splicing records and project documentation.
• Assist in network expansion or outage restoration as needed.
• Communicate effectively with the team for project updates.
