Job summary

Optical Cable Corporation is seeking an 1 ¼” Extruder Operator to set up, run, and monitor extrusion equipment for fiber optic cable production. You will read setup sheets, adjust machines, and manage materials to ensure products meet specifications.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to follow instructions, and attention to documentation. Schedule is Friday to Sunday with some flexibility and overtime opportunities; full-time benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with six months related experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read and follow basic instructions.
• Ability to understand and implement quality procedures.
• Math and handwriting skills and ability to complete documentation.

Responsibilities

• Sets up, runs, and monitors the 1 ¼” extrusion line for all products.
• Reads the setup sheet and uses the file name to determine product, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
• Observes, measures, and inspects products to ensure specs are met.
• Completes all documentation for this job function.
• Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
• Recognizes defects and helps resolve problems or notifies supervisor.
• Follows safety procedures and guidelines.
