Job summary

Optical Cable Corporation is seeking an Roanoke, VA-based ROA Extruder operator for a full-time role. You will set up, run, and monitor a 1 ¼” extrusion line used to manufacture fiber optic cable, ensuring adherence to setup sheets and quality standards.

The job requires reading schematics, documentation, and operating procedures; shifts include night/weekend differential. Candidates should be comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds and working with manufacturing equipment in a team setting.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED with six months related experience or training.
• Mechanical aptitude to run extrusion equipment and follow setup sheets.
• Ability to read, understand, and execute quality procedures and documents.

Responsibilities

• Reads the set-up sheet and uses the file name to determine product, machine adjustments, and material needs.
• Sets up, runs, and monitors the 1 ¼” extrusion line for all products.
• Observes, measures, and inspects products to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Completes all documentation related to this job function accurately.
• Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
• Identifies defects and problems; reports to supervisor and completes non-conformity paperwork.
