Job summary

Ziply Fiber is seeking a Fiber Optic Technician in Washington to install and maintain residential fiber services, including drops, ONTs, routers, and Wi-Fi extenders, and to support and repair Ziply products. The role requires reading outside plant drawings, using dispatch equipment, and working at heights, with standby shifts.

A high school diploma or GED is required and prior customer interaction is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience supporting and interacting with customers is preferred.
• Experience with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel, and different PC operating systems preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in fiber data and voice installation and maintenance; color-code competency is a plus.
• Additional certification, licensing, or experience (e.g., hosted voice, ethernet, Fiber, Optics, flagging, CPR) is a plus.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record.
• Must complete a pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain residential internet and phone (fiber drops, ONTs, routers, Wi-Fi extenders and inside premises wiring).
• Support, install, and repair company products and services.
• Communicate effectively and accurately with customers to reduce repeat service calls.
• Locate and report potential issues with OSP to prevent outages and maintain a professional appearing plant.
• Respond to service outages and assist vendors when/where needed.
• Fiber Optic Splitter adds & Hub work.
• When not re-supply, the technician will be in the load performing Fiber Tech work.
• Read and interpret outside plant drawings for drop placement, customer service orders and repair tickets.
• Use automated dispatch equipment (handheld terminals), and appropriate test equipment to verify proper installation and/or repair.
• Residential Gateways and HSI (High-Speed Interface) business class routers.
