Job summary

Point Broadband in Wills Point, TX, is seeking a Fiber Technician - OSP to install, maintain and repair fiber optic networks. The role requires splicing, testing, and troubleshooting with a focus on outside plant infrastructure.

Responsibilities include on-call restoration, field reporting, and collaboration with engineers. Candidates should have OSP fiber optics experience, strong computer skills, and the ability to work independently in a demanding outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Experience in telecommunications, especially with OSP fiber optics.
• Excellent organizational, mathematical, and computer skills.
• Experience reading street maps and system design prints.
• Proficient with fusion splicers, OTDR, fiber identifiers and scope.

Responsibilities

• Prep and splice SM (and occasionally MM) fiber cables outdoors and indoors.
• Construct splice cases, grounding, bonding, and slack storage.
• Place mid-sheath splices and perform splicing as directed with PMs/OSPs.
• Test and troubleshoot fiber using OTDR, power meter, and scope.
• Provide detailed reports of field splicing activity.
• Respond to on-call rotations and restore services after outages.
• Review underground/aerial cable records and field data.
