Job summary

Hotwire Communications in Las Vegas is seeking a Fiber Splicer to install new cable lines underground and on utility poles, and to maintain existing cables with evaluation tests and repairs.

Responsibilities include prepping and splicing fiber optic cables with fusion splicer and test equipment, installing FTTH transmission gear, supporting field teams, and maintaining accurate network documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills in English.
• Must have active and clean driver’s license in state hired.
• At least 3 years hands-on/field experience in fiber splicing, test equipment & restoration.
• Demonstrated proficiency using fusion splicing machine.
• Understand broadband and fiber optics concepts.
• Ability to use advanced test equipment like OTDRs and power meters.

Responsibilities

• Prep and splice fiber optic cables, locate problem areas and perform repairs as needed with fusion splicer and fiber test equipment.
• Install and maintain transmission and reception equipment for FTTH network.
• Maintain network systems for private lines and determine solutions for issues.
• Initiate test and turn-up procedures with System Engineers per compliance standards.
• Maintain proper network documentation on changes and upgrades.
• Work on-call rotation as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
