Job summary

TDS Telecom in Helena, MT is seeking an Outside Plant Construction Technician II to build and maintain our state-of-the-art fiber network. You will operate construction equipment, install, splice, test, and repair fiber facilities, and ensure safety and accuracy on maps and as-builts.

This full-time role offers hands-on field work in outdoor settings with opportunities for CDL training and advancement. We value teamwork, efficiency, and a proactive approach.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of construction equipment operation with underground/aerial equipment such as directional drills, trencher/plow/rocksaw, backhoe, or bucket trucks.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and remain eligible for DOT requirements.
• Must follow attendance guidelines to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain construction equipment to build and repair outside plant fiber networks.
• Install, splice, test, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic facilities using specialized equipment.
• Conduct cable fault tests, locate defective fiber, and resolve issues efficiently.
• Update GIS, maps, and as-builts; set and label infrastructure like pedestals, vaults, and handholes.
• Restore worksites to original condition upon project completion.
• Train and mentor team members and maintain construction equipment.
• Provide support to field service technicians and complete required documentation promptly.
