Job summary

Hyper Networks LLC in Durham, NC seeks a skilled fiber technician responsible for installation and maintenance of fiber in indoor and outdoor plant environments. You will work under the Fiber Manager to ensure high-quality, code-compliant installations.

Responsibilities include splicing, testing with OTDR, reading blueprints, and coordinating with teams to complete projects safely and on time. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to work at heights, with occasional schedule

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent required.
• Experience installing and maintaining fiber optic products preferred.
• Certified as a BICSI Technician or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of policies and laws.
• Ensure installation work meets quality standards.
• Splice fibers from fiber optic splicer enclosure and ladder.
• Prepare, tray and splice fiber optic cable from single to 864 count.
• Install fiber, coaxial, and CAT5/6 cables and document cables/boxes.
• Test and turn-up subscriber drops in inside and outside plant environments.
• Read and update building drawings.
• Run data and phone cabling including fiber optics and security cabling.
• OTDR test fiber (multimode and single mode) to required certification.
• Terminate, assemble and install connectors.
• Diagnose and repair copper and optical fiber problems.
• Maintain industry standards and reference building layout backboards.
