Job summary

Hotwire Communications is seeking an Installation Technician to perform quality installation and customer training for video, voice, and internet services. You will assist with activation of fiber-optic services in homes, install and service TV, telephone, and internet, and troubleshoot issues end-to-end with safety at the forefront.

The role requires 3+ years of installation experience, fiber cabling expertise, and a valid state driver’s license; on-call rotation is part of the duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree in Internet Technologies preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience installing, testing and troubleshooting cable, phone and internet.
• Must have Fiber Optic Cabling experience.
• Proficiency using small hand tools and larger power tools.
• Must have active and clean, non-restrictive state driver’s license in the hiring state.
• Comfortable working on a ladder and at height.
• Strong preference for Cisco certifications and Microsoft certifications (MCSA).
• Able to work days, weekends, evenings and holidays; on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Assist installation and activation of fiber-optic services in subscriber homes.
• Install and service full video services (analog, digital, HD).
• Install, service, and disconnect telephone and internet customers.
• Punch down telephone lines and test drop wires.
• Maintain safe work environment and follow safety policies.
• Install CAT5/CAT6 drop wires and connectors.
• Troubleshoot video, telephone and internet from demarcation to customer premises equipment.
• Troubleshoot IP issues from demarc to customer premises equipment.
• Install ancillary equipment and test tones from equipment room to end user location.
• Work on on-call schedule rotation and perform other duties as assigned.
