Job summary

Prysmian Group is seeking a Process Engineer to develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes for fiber optic cable production. You will work with production, quality, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues and support new product introductions.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering and about 1 year of manufacturing experience, with familiarity in SPC, Lean Six Sigma, and data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or similar Engineering field.
  • 1-year practical experience in manufacturing environment with manufacturing engineering, statistical planning techniques, business systems, project management or quality control (internships/co-ops preferred).
  • Knowledge of extrusion, polymer processing, and optical fiber handling is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for fiber optic cable production.
  • Analyze process data to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including SOPs and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to resolve defects and maintain product integrity.
  • Work with vendors on equipment upgrades and maintenance strategies.
  • Collaborate with R&D on process requirements for new fiber optic cable designs.
  • Lead Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste and improve throughput.
  • Support cost reduction projects without compromising quality.
  • Provide technical support to production teams for process-related issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent solutions.
