Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a Network Technician / Fiber Engineer to support and maintain fiber optic and telecommunications network infrastructure. This role is hands-on, involving troubleshooting, fiber testing, equipment installation, maintenance, and service restoration across transport and IP networks.

The ideal candidate will have experience with fiber optics, OTDR testing, and network maintenance, handling preventive maintenance and documentation to ensure reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with fiber optic networks and telecom equipment.
• Familiarity with testing and troubleshooting fiber links.
• Ability to interpret OTDR traces and diagnose faults.
• Experience with Ethernet, SONET, and IP networking in transport environments.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and maintain fiber optic and telecom network equipment.
• Perform network testing, installation, provisioning, and maintenance activities.
• Support fiber transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network technologies.
• Assist with network restoration and outage response.
• Perform preventive maintenance on network and critical infrastructure equipment.
• Maintain inventory, tools, test equipment, and related documentation.
• Update maintenance records, work logs, and trouble tickets.
