Job summary

IQ Fiber is hiring a Fiber Network Locator in Gainesville, FL to perform skilled locating of underground fiber optic cables on-site. The role may require digging with shovels and post-hole diggers and supporting cabinet certifications as needed.

You will use electronic locating equipment, read blueprints and as-built records, and communicate with customers and internal teams. This safety-sensitive position requires a high school diploma and a valid driving record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience operating locating equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret as‑builts, blueprints, diagrams and maps.
• Experience working near energized electrical equipment and utility systems.

Responsibilities

• Uses electronic equipment to locate and mark underground fiber locations.
• Operates excavation tools and verifies location of utilities.
• Communicates with customers, departments, and agencies as needed.
• Provides accurate locations and updates to maps and records.
• Maintains time and material records and as‑built diagrams.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
