Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a Fiber Network Analyst for remote contract work to support ISP/OSP fiber deployments. You will interpret OTDR results, guide field engineers, and troubleshoot fiber paths to readiness for service.

Ideal background includes OTDR tracing, EXFO equipment using FastReporter, and fiber characterization. You will work remotely with multiple projects and coordinate with internal teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• Hands-on or analytical fiber-testing experience.
• OTDR trace interpretation.
• EXFO equipment usage (FastReporter) preferred.
• Experience with fiber characterization, OLTS or optical power testing is a plus.
• Understanding of patch panels, racks, ODFs, splice points, terminations, and fiber routes.
• ISP/OSP, metro or data-center fiber experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills.
• Comfort directing field technicians remotely.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Fiber Network Analyst - OTDR / EXFO / Fiber Testing

Remote | Contract | $43-$45/hr

We are supporting a major network infrastructure organization looking for a Fiber Network Analyst to provide remote technical support across ISP and OSP fiber deployments.

This is not a traditional field technician position. The Fiber Analyst serves as the technical point of contact for fiber-testing interpretation and troubleshooting, reviewing test results from field engineers and helping determine why a fiber path is not performing as expected.

You will review OTDR and other optical test results, analyze distance and loss measurements, reference network diagrams and fiber-route documentation, and guide field engineers through troubleshooting and retesting until the fiber is validated and ready for service.

Ideal Background

• OTDR trace interpretation
• EXFO equipment and/or FastReporter experience strongly preferred
• Experience with fiber characterization, OLTS, optical power testing, or CD/PMD is a plus
• Understanding of patch panels, racks, ODFs, splice points, terminations, and fiber routes
• ISP/OSP, metro, long-haul, backbone, carrier, telecom, or data-center fiber experience
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills
• Comfortable directing field technicians remotely
• Strong documentation and communication skills

Candidates coming from Fiber Testing, Fiber Characterization, Optical Network Engineering, Fiber Field Engineering, Fiber Splicing/Test, or Telecom Network Infrastructure backgrounds are highly relevant.
