Job summary

Ryerson, a leading metals company, is hiring a Laser Operator (2nd Shift) to set up, operate, and inspect fiber laser cutting equipment, ensuring all parts meet print standards. You will start up and shut down the laser, set cutting parameters, and safely operate a forklift for material handling.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of laser or CNC experience, the ability to read blueprints, basic computer skills, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and shut down fiber laser cutting equipment with appropriate cutting parameters
• Review work orders, blueprints, and cut files for accurate processing
• Load, unload, and stage materials using forklifts and other handling equipment
• Monitor machine performance and adjust operations to meet production goals
• Inspect finished parts with measuring tools and document issues
• Perform operator-level preventative maintenance and basic machine care
• Follow safety procedures and PPE guidelines while collaborating with team members
• Support production deadlines and communicate issues to supervisors
