Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Tube Laser Operator to operate a tube laser, stage and pack material for shipments, and support daily fulfillment. Onboarding includes enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program with SAP paperwork.

Applicants should have basic math and computer skills and pass a physical requirements exam. This role offers hands-on training in a dynamic metals environment.

Qualifications

• Skills-based assessment covering reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail and problem-solving.
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred.
• Basic math and basic computer skills required.
• Ability to pass physical requirements exam (vision, hearing, mobility).
• Enrollment in a registered apprenticeship during onboarding and training.

Responsibilities

• Pick and stage feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Operate a Tube Laser and break down bulk bundles for customer orders.
• Package material to customer requirements.
• Operate a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed.
• Complete paperwork and SAP work orders for shipping/receiving.
• Maintain maximum productivity for finished goods creation.
• Other duties as assigned or updated as needed.

As a Tube Laser Operator at Ryerson, you will be responsible for operating a tube laser as well as day-to-day staging, packing, and picking material for shipments using proper equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
• Operating a Tube Laser and breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders
• Packaging of material to customer requirements
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred
• Basic math skills
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training
