Job summary

Lyte Fiber in Houston, TX is seeking a GIS Fiber Designer to produce low-level fiber designs and maintain network records. This desk-based role uses Vetro, QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD to build designs from field data.

You will work with field engineers and designers on SMB/MDU projects, greensfield subdivisions, and extensions, ensuring designs meet Lyte Fiber standards and are construction-ready. A detail-oriented, GIS-savvy candidate will thrive in this team.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in GIS or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years designing fiber optic outside plant in a GIS platform.
• Experience with Vetro, IQGeo, ArcGIS Pro, or similar.
• Proficiency with ESRI Field Maps for mobile data collection.
• Ability to read field notes, sketches, and construction prints.

Responsibilities

• Produce low-level fiber designs for SMB, MDU, and small projects.
• Design both aerial and underground routes using GIS tools.
• Convert field data into construction-ready designs and records.
• Maintain Vetro records and GIS layers for accuracy.
• Generate materials lists, splice sheets, and construction prints.
