Job summary

IQ Fiber is seeking a Construction Technician to support daily construction and maintenance of our fiber optic network in outdoor environments. The role is field-based, requiring physical stamina, safety-first practices, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include installing and repairing fiber and conduit, locating existing cables, and ensuring safe operations while keeping customer disruption to a minimum.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; minimum of 1 year of telecommunications construction experience preferred.
• Familiarity with fiber optic cable installation, conduit work, and underground plant maintenance; ability to construct small networks for MDU and public spaces using off-the-shelf solutions.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clear MVR, auto insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic network infrastructure; dig by hand or with trenching equipment to place cable underground.
• Relocate conduit and fiber, remove hand holes and vaults as needed, and repair damaged underground plant.
• Locate and mark existing underground cables to protect infrastructure during excavation and construction activities.
• Ensure OSHA safety standards and all local regulations are followed; maintain safety, productivity, quality, and workmanship.
