Job summary

Yoh Services LLC is seeking a Fiber Field Technician to install, maintain and monitor fiber optic networks in IL Rockford and surrounding areas. You will support wholesale and enterprise customers, troubleshoot issues, and work with a friendly, dynamic team.

The role offers shift premiums, on-call pay, a company vehicle, and opportunities to advance in a large global staffing organization.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in a telecom environment or equivalent training.
• DS3/DS1 and SONET/DWDM installation/maintenance.
• Strong IP/MPLS fundamentals.
• Proficiency with OTDR, OSA, DS1/DS3 and Ethernet testing tools.
• Ability to analyze, monitor and resolve network issues promptly.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Excellent PC skills and communication.

Fiber Field Technician

Join a dynamic team and play a vital role in the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of cutting-edge fiber optic networks in the IL Rockford, Dekalb, Rochelle, Peruand Lasalle areas. As a Fiber Field Technician, you will be the frontline hero ensuring seamless connectivity, supporting both wholesale and enterprise customers. This role offers competitive pay, shift premiums, on-call pay, company vehicle, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact in the telecommunications industry.

Required Skills:

• 3 to 5 years of experience in a telecommunications environment or equivalent technical training
• Expertise in DS3/DS1, SONET/DWDM installation and maintenance
• Strong understanding of IP/MPLS fundamentals
• Proficiency with test equipment such as OTDR, OSA, DS1/3, and Ethernet testing tools
• Ability to analyze, monitor, and resolve network issues promptly
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Self-motivated with strong decision-making skills
• Excellent PC skills and strong oral and written communication

Nice to Have Skills:

• Cisco or Alcatel Lucent IP certifications
• Experience with VOIP switching and maintenance
• Fiber optics splicing and maintenance knowledge
• SS7/STP support experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

• College or technical degree in related field or equivalent experience

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to work day, evening, night shifts, overtime, call-ins, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Ability to work in demanding environments and multi-task effectively
