Job summary

TriNet Group seeks a Fiber Design Engineer to oversee fiber route design, allocation, and map creation across regional networks. Projects may be customer funded or company funded (expansion, overbuild, municipal).

You will participate in kick-offs, prepare cost requests with firm splicing costs, assign fiber routes, and generate splicing prints for vendors. An on-call rotation and coordination with NOC/Field Ops are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 year technical degree or equivalent work experience.
• BS/BA (preference to Civil, Construction, or Electrical,Engineering Degrees) or equivalent work experience preferred.
• A valid driver’s license required.
• One (1) to three (3) years of fiber engineering and construction management experience or equivalent and one (1) to three (3) years of field construction management experience with preference to both outside plant and inside plant fiber construction.
• Knowledge of Outside Plant Construction techniques (aerial & underground) preferred.
• Working knowledge of NESC, NEC and OSHA standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attend Kick-Off meetings for new backbone, lateral, and riser fiber projects.
• Complete Cost Requests from Sales Engineering with firm costs for necessary splicing.
• Obtain circuit identifiers from groups or create as required.
• Design fiber routes and create splicing prints and work orders for vendors.
• Provide fiber assignments to Construction Team for latearl fibers to demarc panel.
• Create Requisitions for PO approval and payment to vendors.
• Submit Change management notifications and adhere to field policies.
• Provide Operations/Provisioning with final DLRs & test shots for closeout.
• Close out tasks in appropriate systems after completion.
• Approve vendor invoices for projects.
• Work with Fiber Construction Managers.
• Create work orders for overbuild and expansion projects.
• Review capacity reports and plan network augmentations on high-utilization routes.
• Be on-call for emergencies and trouble response, coordinating with NOC and Field Operations.

Position Summary: The Fiber engineering groups are regional.The engineer is responsible for all aspects of fiber design and allocation,route design, and map creation. Projects requiring Fiber Design can either becustomer funded based on service orders or company funded initiatives (ie:expansion, overbuild, municipal projects, etc.)

Essential Job Functions:

• Attend Kick-Off meetings (examples when new backbone,lateral, and/or riser fiber is required.)

• Work jointly with the NOC, Field Operations, and Changemanagement; and mobilize necessary repair crews to isolate and restore anyfiber impairments.

Education/Certifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum 2 year technical degree or equivalent workexperience

BS/BA (preference to Civil, Construction, or Electrical,Engineering Degrees) or equivalent work experience preferred
