Job summary

Visionary Communications, Inc. in Gillette, Wyoming, is seeking a Field Technician – Fiber Drops to join our wireless team as a full-time, hourly position.

The role involves installing underground and overhead cables, locating existing facilities, and following safety and code requirements. The successful candidate will lift up to 50 pounds, travel regionally up to 50% with per diem provided, and use a range of trenching and installation equipment.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to quickly learn and work within proprietary computer applications.
• Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
• Valid driver's license and insurability to drive a company vehicle is preferred.
• Willingness to travel regionally 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently install underground cables in residential and commercial environments.
• Follow best practices for installing underground wiring to meet local building codes.
• Operate trenching equipment such as a mini skid steer or walk-behind trencher.
• Identify existing buried copper and fiber facilities and comply with 811 requirements before digging.
• Load reel trailers with strand, fiber or cable as required.
• Bury cable and conduit systems and pull fiber through conduit.
• Safely install overhead cables in residential and commercial environments.
• Hang overhead cable or strand using ladder, bucket truck, or gaffs.
