Job summary

Lightera is seeking hands-on Manufacturing Technicians to join our Avon, CT facility on 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. We provide training and invest in your future, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, continuous improvement and meeting customers’ needs.

Responsibilities include setting up fiber draw towers, reviewing orders and specifications, following safety procedures, and supporting production processes across departments.

Qualifications

• AS or High School Diploma required, additional education preferred.
• 1-3 years of manufacturing experience.
• Technical/Mechanical background or interest.
• Extrusion or optical fiber cable experience preferred.
• Willingness to train in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to read and convey work instructions and drawings.
• Strong math skills; fractions, decimals, metrics, conversions.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate fiber draw towers for manufacturing of specialty fiber optic products.
• Review work orders, materials, specifications and process requirements.
• Follow safety procedures and ISO guidelines; handle chemicals properly.
• Participate in improvement initiatives to meet department goals.
• Support process engineering on new or revised process conditions.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and support continuous improvement.
• Notify supervisors of equipment/process problems to minimize downtime.
• Support production needs across departments as required.
