Job summary

Staffmark is hiring a Fiber Draw Manufacturing Technician in Avon, CT for a direct-hire opportunity. You will set up, operate, and monitor fiber draw towers, follow work orders, recipes, and specs to ensure quality.

Qualifications include high school diploma or GED with technical training preferred, 1–3 years of manufacturing experience, strong math and reading abilities, and basic computer skills. You’ll work 1st–3rd shifts with differential pay.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years in manufacturing or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor fiber draw towers per schedules.
  • Follow work orders, recipes, and quality standards.
  • Review materials and specs before production starts.
  • Inspect processes and troubleshoot to reduce downtime.
  • Maintain production records and support continuous improvement.
  • Handle materials per procedures and maintain 6S practices.
  • Follow safety, ISO, and company operating procedures.

Now hiring for a Fiber Draw Manufacturing Technician - Direct Hire Opprtunity
Location: Avon, CT
Pay Rate: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

  • 2nd Shift Differential:Additional 8%
  • 3rd Shift Differential:Additional 12%

Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree or technical training preferred
  • Ability to read work instructions, drawings, and product specifications
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Strong math skills, including fractions, decimals, measurements, and basic calculations
Experience Requirements
  • 1-3 years of manufacturing, production, or industrial experience preferred
  • Mechanical, technical, or industrial background preferred
  • Experience with fiber optics, cable manufacturing, extrusion, or related processes is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and handle production materials and equipment safely
  • Ability to work around manufacturing machinery and process equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and wear required protective equipment
Job Duties
  • Set up, operate, and monitor fiber draw towers used in fiber optic manufacturing
  • Follow work orders, production recipes, engineering specifications, and quality standards
  • Review materials, drawings, and process requirements before production
  • Inspect production processes to ensure quality and performance requirements are met
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to reduce downtime and improve efficiency
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation
  • Support Engineering with process development and continuous improvement projects
  • Handle, label, and dispose of manufacturing materials according to established procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area using 6S practices
  • Follow all safety, ISO, and company operating procedures
  • Support additional manufacturing and production activities as needed
