Position Summary

Are you a highly technical and experienced Fiber Design Engineer with hands-on experience in splicing and fiber connectivity design? Have you utilized mapping and fiber management systems like 3-GIS, Arc GIS, or OSP Insight? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment that includes construction and trouble management responsibilities for all aspects of physical fiber optic plant? If so, you may be the perfect candidate for the position of Fiber Design Engineer at Everstream!

Primary Responsibilities

• Serve as the single point of contact for all splicing design and troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate network connectivity data utilizing 3GIS and Salesforce.
• Develop accurate splice documentation to facilitate customer turn-up.
• Create Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation for fiber-related maintenance events.
• Oversee fiber optic testing related to acceptance of new installations or repairs, analyzing test results from OTDR, CD/PMD, ORL, and Power Meter.
• Utilize software such as Salesforce, Adobe, EXPO Fast Reporter, Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, CAD, and Google Earth.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience installing, troubleshooting, and designing Fiber Optic and Ethernet physical transport in a service provider environment.
• Minimum 2 years testing, QC, and delivering high-speed telecom services using test units like OTDR, Fusion Splicer, Power Meter, etc.
• At least 2 years managing inside and outside plant construction projects, budgets, and contractors.
• Proficiency with mapping and fiber management software such as Arc GIS, 3-GIS, QGIS, Google Earth.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word & Excel, Visio, and CAD software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Over 5 years of fusion splicing experience.
• Over 2 years of fiber design experience with software like Arc GIS, OSP Insight, or 3-GIS.
• Degree in GIS or FOT certification.
• Experience managing fiber design in large projects.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in an office environment 3 days a week.
