Job summary

Wachter seeks an experienced Low-Voltage Fiber & Data Technician to lead hands-on installation projects across nationwide stores. You will splice fiber, read blueprints, and support remodels with day/night shifts and extensive travel.

Ideal candidates bring 2–5 years in low-voltage trades, strong fiber termination knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with general contractors. Wachter pays per-diem during overnight travel and offers robust benefits.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of hands-on experience in low-voltage systems, structured cabling, networking, and CCTV.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic termination, network infrastructure, and POS deployment/troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Large-Scale Cabling Deployments: Pull and route up to 300 copper cables and 8,000 to 10,000 feet of fiber per new store install.
• Advanced Fiber Splicing & Testing: Perform precision interior multi-mode fusion splicing and exterior/underground single-mode fusion splicing for main structures and external assets.
• Site Infrastructure Setup: Mount, secure, and terminate up to 4 IDFs in ceiling spaces.
• Device & Network Installations: Mount and connect switches, WAPs, VoIP phones, computers, printers, and related equipment.
• Department Re-Cabling & Relocation: Add, move, and relocate existing copper infrastructure during remodels.
• Site Coordination & Planning: Work with GCs and adjacent trades to ensure smooth build progression.
• Post-Installation Validation: Conduct wireless surveys and cable testing post-completion.
• Documentation & Reporting: Record and share test results with management and clients.
• Aerial Work: Use BOOM/scissor lifts to work up to 40+ feet.
