Job summary

Thorlabs in Marlboro, NJ is seeking a Technician II to fabricate, assemble and test optical fiber components and assemblies. You will support production, engineering projects and new product introduction with a high degree of independence.

Key duties include following drawings, performing advanced fiber processing, optical and environmental testing, and maintaining test documentation. Candidates should have strong attention to detail and at least 4 years in manufacturing or engineering.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in manufacturing, engineering, or field service.
• Experience in fiber processing and soldering preferred.
• Ability to read drawings and use hand tools.
• Proficient in English reading/writing.

Responsibilities

• Follow drawings, specs and docs to build and test products to quality standards.
• Perform advanced fiber processing: stripping, splicing, recoating, TEC fabrication, lensing.
• Assemble, inspect, test, clean, and package fiber components and modules.
• Conduct optical, mechanical and environmental tests with standard methods.
• Analyze results, troubleshoot issues, and support process development.
• Document production and test activities and assist in new product introduction.
• Train or assist less experienced technicians as needed.
