Job summary

Abacus Insights is seeking a Healthcare Integration Engineer to design, build, and maintain our scalable clinical data platform, focusing on FHIR-compliant APIs and high-throughput data workflows. You will architect solutions that enable secure, interoperable patient data across EHR systems.

You’ll leverage Firefly Server, Firely SDKs, and MongoDB, while ensuring HIPAA/GDPR compliance and low-latency performance in a collaborative AI-enabled environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in healthcare software engineering or healthtech integration.
• Deep knowledge of HL7 FHIR resources, profiles, extensions, and RESTful interactions.
• Hands-on experience with Firely Server, Firely .NET/C# SDKs, performance tuning, architecture and design.
• 3+ years of experience with MongoDB (queries, indexing, aggregation frameworks, document modeling).
• Proficiency in C# / .NET Core or Node.js/TypeScript for backend services.
• Familiarity with EHR integration and healthcare data specs (SMART on FHIR, OAuth2/OIDC).
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• API & Integration Development: Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable RESTful APIs adhering to FHIR standards.
• FHIR Server Management: Deploy, configure, and optimize Firefly Server and related Firely SDK tools.
• Database Architecture: Schema design and optimization of MongoDB collections for nested FHIR JSON.
• Data Pipeline & Transformation: Build ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and transform legacy data to FHIR resources.
• Compliance & Security: Ensure data persistence, transmission, and integration meet HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2.
• Testing & Validation: End-to-end integration tests, FHIR profile validation, and performance tuning.
