Job Summary:

This position will fill in as the FFA Advisor while someone is on a leave of absence. The stipend would be prorated based on the number of days worked.

The FFA Assistant Advisor role supports our chapter in fostering agricultural education and leadership development among students. Responsibilities include assisting with event coordination, mentoring FFA members in their projects and competitions, and promoting participation in educational programs. The position requires strong communication skills for engaging with students, parents, and community stakeholders. Candidates should possess a passion for agriculture and youth development and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic educational environment. Evaluation:

The supervisor shall annually evaluate the team leader. Such evaluation shall be reviewed with the team leader and made part of his/her permanent record.

Terms of Employment:

This position is for 11 months, including summer months. Depending on the review of school needs and the evaluation process, the term may be extended annually.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Agricultural Education: Understanding of agricultural principles, practices, and industry trends.
• FFA Program: Knowledge of the FFA organization, its mission, goals, and structure.
• Youth Development: Understanding adolescent development and effective strategies for mentoring and supporting youth.
• Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, teachers, and community members.
• Teamwork : Collaborate effectively with other FFA advisors, school staff, and community stakeholders to enhance the FFA experience for students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support FFA Chapter Activities: Assist in planning, organizing, and executing FFA chapter meetings, events, and activities such as conferences, workshops, volunteer efforts, competitions, and overnight trips.
• Mentor FFA Members: Provide guidance and mentorship to FFA members, helping them develop leadership skills, agricultural knowledge, and personal growth.
• Assist with Educational Programs: Collaborate with the FFA advisor and other stakeholders to develop and implement agricultural education programs that align with FFA goals and curriculum standards.
• Coordinate Competitions and Events: Help coordinate participation in FFA competitions, judging events, and career development events (CDEs), ensuring members are prepared and supported. Schedule and implement after-school practices. Help host, recruit judges, and score at contests.
• Facilitate Student Leadership Development: Assist in fostering leadership qualities among FFA members through training, workshops, and hands-on experiences.
• Manage Chapter Finances: Assist in managing the FFA chapter budget, fundraising activities, and financial records by FFA guidelines and school policies.
• Communicate with Stakeholders: Promote FFA activities and achievements by maintaining effective communication with FFA members, parents, school administration, agricultural industry partners, and community members. Monthly evening alumni meetings.
• Advise Student Projects: Guide and support FFA members in their supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs) and individual or group projects, providing feedback and encouragement. Evaluate and judge at section contests.
• Promote FFA Involvement: Encourage student participation in FFA events, activities, and leadership roles, fostering community and pride within the chapter.
• Professional Development: Stay informed about agricultural education trends, FFA policies, and opportunities for professional growth, participating in training and development activities as needed.
• Be able to attend, transport, coach, and score at events independently in the absence of the advisor.

Physical Demands:

The role of FFA Assistant Advisor requires actively engaging in various physical activities essential to supporting our FFA chapter and its members. This includes standing and walking for extended periods during events, field trips, and outdoor activities. Candidates must be capable of lifting and carrying equipment, supplies, and materials related to agricultural education, such as tools and project materials. The position entails working outdoors in diverse weather conditions and participating in agricultural activities alongside students, demonstrating physical stamina and resilience. Travel to events, competitions, and meetings is also expected, involving driving and sitting for extended periods.

Additionally, candidates should be comfortable interacting with livestock and other animals that may be part of FFA projects or activities. Strong manual dexterity is essential for operating agricultural tools and equipment, assisting with demonstrations, and providing hands-on support to students. Awareness of health and safety protocols is crucial to ensure the well-being of students during all activities.
