Job summary

Alt's Operation is hiring a Fertilizer Applicator Technician in Verona, WI. You will run your own route and truck, applying fertilizer and turf products to create the greenest lawns on the block.

Must hold a Wisconsin DATCP pesticide applicator license (Turf & Ornamental, Category 3.0) or obtain within 30 days. Responsibilities include precise calibration, product labeling compliance, and year-round work with potential snow duties.

Qualifications

  • Current Wisconsin DATCP pesticide applicator license (Turf & Ornamental, Category 3.0) is required.
  • You should hold it when you apply, or be able to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
  • Working knowledge of turf, weeds, and common lawn pests.
  • Strong attention to detail and the discipline to follow application rates precisely.
  • The independence to run a route efficiently with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to read and interpret product labels and safety data sheets.
  • Physical ability to be outdoors, lifting up to 50 lbs in all kinds of weather.
  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Flexibility with a season-based schedule; typical start around 7:00 AM.

Responsibilities

  • Turn assigned properties into healthy, green lawns by applying fertilizer and turf products at the right rates, on the right schedule.
  • Run your own route and truck: follow your daily schedule and keep the trailer organized, stocked, and ready to go.
  • Keep every application accurate and compliant: calibrate your equipment, read product labels and SDS sheets, and place warning flags after each service.
  • Earn the customer's confidence by completing service receipts accurately and leaving them after every visit.
  • Handle targeted work with herbicides and pre-emergents in beds and pavement cracks, and lawn aeration.
  • Keep equipment dialed in with weekly truck and trailer inspections and routine maintenance.
  • Stay organized using LMN software for routing and documentation, and report inventory daily.
  • Winter snow work: on-call snow response with nights/weekends during storm events.

Fertilizer Applicator Technician | $28-$32/hr

What You'll Own
  1. Turn your assigned properties into healthy, green lawns by applying fertilizer and turf products at the right rates, on the right schedule.

  5. Handle targeted work with skill : herbicides (including Roundup) in beds and pavement cracks, pre-emergents like Snapshot, and lawn aeration.

  6. Keep equipment dialed in with weekly truck and trailer inspections and routine maintenance.

  7. Stay organized and accountable using LMN software for routing and documentation, and report inventory and daily updates to your supervisor.

  8. Keep our clients up and running all winter: when the snow flies, you join the crew clearing commercial and residential properties. Snow response is on-call and can include nights, weekends, and holidays during storm events.

What You Bring

-A current Wisconsin DATCP pesticide applicator license (Turf & Ornamental, Category 3.0) is required. You should hold it when you apply, or be able to obtain it within 30 days of hire.

-Working knowledge of turf, weeds, and common lawn pests. Enough to spot problems on a property and explain the fix clearly to customers at each stop.

-Strong attention to detail and the discipline to follow application rates precisely.

-The independence to run a route efficiently with minimal oversight.

-Mechanical aptitude for equipment care and calibration.

-The ability to read and interpret product labels and safety data sheets.

-The physical ability to be on your feet and outdoors all day, lifting and handling product bags and equipment (up to 50 lbs) in all kinds of weather.

-A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

-Comfort with a flexible, season-based schedule. Typical start time is around 7:00 AM.
