Job summary

New York City District Council of Carpenters is seeking a Ship Carpenter to perform ship carpentry work aboard vessels and terminals of the Staten Island Ferry, under supervision of the Supervisor Ship Carpenter. Qualifications

• Five years of full-time satisfactory experience in ship carpentry.
• Within thirty days of appointment candidates must possess a valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).

Responsibilities

• Uses and operates carpentry shop hand and powered machinery, tools and equipment; repairs and erects partitions, doors and windows; works from prints and measurements.
• Performs wood working repairs and maintenance of ferries, floating equipment, terminals and related buildings; replaces broken glass; constructs and installs scaffolding; constructs and repairs float stages.
• Installs, repairs and replaces flooring, partitions, window frames and sashes, door frames and doors, drop ceilings and metal framing of walls, and other related components of buildings and structures including boardwalks, fences and screens.
