Job summary

Flagship Cruises & Events in San Diego is seeking a Captain to oversee vessel operations, ensure safety, and deliver exceptional guest service in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This role requires strong teamwork, calm under pressure, and availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

You will manage navigation, safety drills, crew training, and daily inspections while maintaining top guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol screenings.
• 25 GT, 50 GT or 100 GT Merchant Mariner Credential with satisfactory record.
• CPR certified or certification can be provided.
• Strong communication, leadership and decision-making skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends and major holidays.
• TWIC card required for access to secured areas.
• Team player and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain command and responsibility for safe operation, navigation, and management of vessel, passengers and crew.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, USCG regulations, and maritime safety standards.
• Safely navigate, dock, undock, and maneuver the vessel in varying conditions.
• Participate in safety procedures and drills for crew and passengers.
• Ongoing crew management, training and drilling per laws and regulations.
• Conduct pre-departure inspections to ensure readiness, safety, cleanliness and efficiency.
• Focus on customer service and guest satisfaction while delivering hospitality.
• Maintain knowledge of ship systems and proper maintenance.
• Analyze and solve problems while prioritizing tasks.
• Promote teamwork and professional relationships among crew.
• Administrative and documentation duties as required.
• Provide training to new Captains and Deckhands.
• Additional duties as assigned.
