Job summary

Sumitomo Biorational Company is seeking a Process Engineer Intern for its Osage, IA facility. You will learn and apply fermentation, recovery and formulation processes, work in the lab, and help transfer successful methods to production.

You will collaborate with R&D scientists and production engineers to evaluate feasibility, write protocols, and support safe, efficient manufacturing with a focus on yield improvement and cycle-time reduction.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary, diverse team.
• Flexibility to work limited off-shift and weekend hours to support production shifts.

Responsibilities

• Support safety and environmental training policies and programs.
• Track and trend yield/quality data for each batch and identify improvement opportunities.
• Chart, analyze production data to recommend lean manufacturing projects.
• Identify, develop and implement practical solutions to improve fermentation, recovery, and formulation processes.
• Write, update and maintain production master batch records and SOPs.
• Assist with troubleshooting and CAPA investigations.
