Job summary

Texas Instruments in Dallas seeks a Design Retargeting Engineer to translate customer design intent into manufacturable layouts, working at the interface of design and process.

You will collaborate with OPC, lithography, and process teams to optimize yield and printability on 28nm/22nm nodes, develop retargeting rules, and mentor junior engineers. Strong scripting and experience with industry tools are required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
• 5+ years of design retargeting/OPC/physical design experience.
• Strong understanding of optical lithography and RET concepts.
• Hands-on experience with OPC software tools like Sentaurus/Calibre/Brion.
• Scripting proficiency in any language.
• Familiarity with layout editing and verification tools.
• Knowledge of lithography and DTCO challenges in advanced nodes (e.g., 28nm and below).
• Exposure to 28nm and below is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement retargeting strategies bridging design intent and process capabilities.
• Collaborate with OPC, lithography, and process teams to ensure high-yield pattern transfer.
• Analyze and modify layout geometries to improve printability and process window robustness.
• Work with EDA tools to automate retargeting flows and integrate them into tape-out pipelines.
• Provide feedback on layout constraints and manufacturability guidelines to customers.
• Perform data analysis using CD metrology, SEM review, and simulations to refine rules.
• Contribute to development of design rules and patterning strategies for advanced nodes (28/22nm).
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the team.
