Job summary

Cat Care Clinic of Naples is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our feline-exclusive team. With a calm, cat‑only environment, you will support veterinarians during exams, surgeries, dentistry, and hospitalization while providing gentle handling and excellent client service.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years in a clinical setting, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a small, supportive team focused on Fear Free care for our feline patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of veterinary assistant experience in a clinical setting.
• Experience assisting with patient restraint, treatments, diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, or hospitalized patient care.
• Comfortable working with feline patients and committed to gentle, low-stress handling techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow medical protocols and veterinarian direction.
• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, professional, and eager to continue learning and developing veterinary skills.
• Fear Free, Cat Friendly, or similar training is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, gentle, and low-stress feline restraint and handling.
• Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, dental procedures, and diagnostic workups.
• Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for procedures.
• Administer medications and treatments as permitted by training, experience, and applicable law.
• Collect and prepare laboratory samples and assist with in-house diagnostic testing.
• Assist with digital radiography and other diagnostic procedures.
• Support anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery under veterinarian direction and hospital protocols.
• Assist with IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and hospitalized patient care.
• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked treatment, exam, surgery, and patient care areas.
• Follow hospital protocols for aseptic technique, infection control, and patient safety.
• Accurately document patient care and treatments in the hospital's PIMS system.
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients and support client education and discharge instructions.
• Work collaboratively with a small team to create a positive, efficient, and supportive hospital environment.
