Job summary

Versova is seeking a Feed Mill Technician to oversee daily production, coordinate schedules, and operate the feed mill at our Pasco facility. You will ensure accurate batching, manage ingredient inventories, and deliver finished feed to targeted bins while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires the ability to work overtime and pass required safety training, with a focus on accurate data entry in systems like Beta Raven and FMM, and teamwork in a fast-paced production

Qualifications

• 0–2 years general work experience required.
• Proficient with Windows, Word and Excel; able to learn Windows-based programs.
• Understanding of safety and PPE requirements for industrial environments.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and work at heights, as needed.
• Must be able to pass a PFT examination for respirator use.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays as production demands.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with quality, food safety, and safety policies and procedures.
• Coordinate feed schedule and operate the feed mill.

• Enter loads for the day into FMM and Raven systems.
• Deliver finished feed to layer & pullet bins and ensure correct placement.

Job description

The Feed Mill Technician is responsible for the daily production of feed, coordinating the feed schedule, and operating the feed mill. This role contributes to the organization's goals by ensuring efficient feed production and delivery, managing ingredient inventories, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintain compliance with all internal/external quality, food safety, and site safety policies and procedures.
• Promote a culture consistent with Iowa Cage Free and Versova Feed Teams’ Guiding Principles and Core Values.
• Ensure incoming ingredients are placed in the proper bin and communicate with the team on incoming loads.
• Enter loads for the day into FMM.
• Assist the Feed Mill Manager in maintaining sufficient ingredient inventory.
• Monitor batching system for efficient operation and correct load routing.
• Enter ingredient loads into the BETA Raven receiving system accurately.
• Complete required paperwork.
• Perform preventative maintenance and document maintenance concerns with action plans and status reports.
• Deliver finished feed safely and accurately to layer and pullet finished feed bins.
• Ensure correct feed placement in the correct house at the appropriate time .
• Collect, inspect, and bag samples of each load delivered.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and ensure transportation equipment is in satisfactory condition.
• Manage traffic flow in receiving area and unload grain and ingredient trucks.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 0-2 years general work experience .
• Proficient in using a computer with current Windows operating system, Word, Excel, and able to learn Windows-based programs (Beta Raven, FMM, and LogMeIn).
• Understanding of safe work practices, including respiratory protection, elevated work platforms, fall protection, control of hazardous energy, fire protection systems, electrical safety, forklift/hoist operation, confined space entry, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and employee “Right to Know.”
• Ability to safely complete physical tasks associated with essential job functions, including bending, stooping, lifting up to 55 lbs., climbing ladders, work in confined spaces, and working at heights up to 200ft.
• Able to pass a PFT examination for respirator use.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends and holiday hours as required based on production demand.

This position is based at a feed mill and requires work in both indoor and outdoor environments. The role involves exposure to grain dust, varying temperatures, loud machinery, and potential odors associated with grain storage and manure management. The technician will be required to stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly. This role may also require working at heights and in confined spaces . Standard work hours may vary, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, depending on operational needs. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required as needed.
