Fremont Farms of Iowa is seeking an Assistant Feed Mill Operator to support high-quality feed production, keep equipment running smoothly, and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

You will assist with housekeeping, basic maintenance, and training on the feed making process to support the operators, with a focus on teamwork and reliability in a fast-paced farm operation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Awareness of mechanical operations and equipment maintenance.
• Agricultural or feed operations experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage ingredient process flow of feed mill operations, including receiving, grinding, batching, and loadout.
• Receive ingredients and maintain feed mill, warehouse, bins, and related equipment.
• Coordinate and execute finished feed production runs for farms.
• Perform or coordinate preventative maintenance and repair of mill equipment.
• Understand internal feed computer systems and process paperwork for farm operations.
• Maintain inventory levels of ingredients and finished feed.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work environment.
• Provide back-up support to coworkers and other departments as needed.
• Coordinate with other departments on troubleshooting equipment issues and feed usage reporting.

Job Summary

The Assistant Feed Mill Operator helps with producing high quality feed, maintaining equipment, and keeping a clean work environment. Your focus will be on housekeeping and maintenance. Also, you will be trained on the feed making process to assist the operators.

Schedule

Hours are 7am-5pm M-F and weekends if needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage ingredient process flow of entire feed mill to include receiving, grinding, batching, and loadout.
• Receive ingredients and maintenance of the feed mill, warehouse, bins, and related equipment.
• Coordinate, plan and execute finished feed production runs for the layer and pullet farms.
• Perform or coordinate preventative maintenance and repair of mill and related equipment as needed.
• Understand internal feed computer systems and process paperwork, orders, or related information to support farm operations.
• Follow established procedures to maintain sufficient ingredients and finished feed inventory levels.
• Maintain a clean orderly work environment.
• Provide back-up support to coworkers and other departments as required.
• Coordinates with other departments on troubleshooting day-to-day equipment concerns with feed consumption, scales, and accurate reporting of feed usage.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Awareness and knowledge of the mechanical operations of a feed mill and knowledge of proper equipment maintenance is preferred.
• Agricultural, mill, grain elevator, Industrial or equivalent experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Good communication skills and a teamwork attitude are essential.
• Computer/iPad skills and understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) Safety Culture.
• Mechanical, electrical, and metal working knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to operate power tools and equipment safely.
• Independent Self Starter/Team Player
• Ability to work well with others in a fast paced, dynamic environment and have an attention to detail.
• Mathematical ability is required.
• Knowledge of production agriculture or feed operations is preferred.
• Ability to walk and stand for 10 hours/day.
• Forklift, Skid Steer, Front End Loader experience preferred.

Physical Demands

Stand and walk frequently throughout the day. Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
