Job summary

AMVC Employee Services LLC seeks a Feed Mill Operator to manage and oversee all mill areas, ensuring quality, productivity and safety in a fast-paced environment. You will follow SOPs, maintain shift and production records, and support inventory and cleaning tasks.

The role requires reading safety manuals, basic computer skills, and prior feed mill or manufacturing experience. Must handle wet/humid conditions and operate forklifts and equipment.

Qualifications

• Read and understand safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Previous feed mill or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Will work in wet and/or humid conditions, and around fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and cold.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and electrical knowledge.
• Experience operating a forklift/skid loader.

Responsibilities

• Follows standard operating procedures in all operator areas and maintains records.
• Work with a small team and take ownership of tasks to support the mill.
• Operates all area equipment (computer, grinders, tools, forklift, etc.).
• Prepares and maintains shift activity, production, sampling, and bag-dump reports.
• Perform daily feed, bulk, and micro ingredient inventory.
• Perform cleaning duties per standard work and as requested by supervisor.
• Maintain safety of employees and company assets and keep areas orderly.
• Stock batching areas with micro-ingredients and totes; assist as needed.
• Comply with environmental laws and report issues to supervisor.
• Performs other duties as defined by manager/shift supervisor.

TITLE: Feed Mill Operator

REPORTS TO: Feed Mill Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Operate, and oversee all the operator areas within the mill (i.e., receiving, batching, production floor, loadout, etc.) to assure compliance with established procedures relative to quality, productivity, and safety by performing the following duties in a fast-paced working environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Follows standard operating instructions/procedures in the performance of all operator areas, including flushing procedures for batching, along with record keeping.

Work with a small team that has many tasks to manage through the week and is willing to learn and take responsibility of these tasks in furtherance of the team and the mill.

Operates all area equipment/tools (computer, grinders, tools, forklift, etc.).

Prepares and maintains shift activity reports, tracks production reports, sampling reports, bag dump reports, reconciliations, etc.

Perform daily feed, bulk, and micro ingredient inventory.

Perform cleaning duties listed out in standard work and as requested by the supervisor.

Maintains and ensures the safety of all employees and assets of the company.

Maintains and ensures the orderliness and housekeeping of all areas of the feed mill.

Responsible for filling micro-ingredient, tote system, and maintaining necessary stock at the batching areas, and receiving when needed.

Responsible for following all environmental laws.

Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.

Performs other duties as defined by manager/shift supervisor.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Previous feed mill or manufacturing experience preferred.

Basic computer skills

Will work in wet and/or humid conditions, and around fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and cold.

Strong mechanical aptitude and electrical knowledge

Experience with fork truck/skid loader

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to frequently climb up, over, under, and around feed mill areas.

Must be able to walk and stand on concrete and unpaved areas for longer periods.

Must be able to lift up 50 lbs.

Must be willing to learn and perform the different areas of the feed mill process.

Must be able to work with and around a wide range of chemicals and different feed ingredients.

Must be able to work effectively with others in a team environment.

Ability to work in a dusty environment with potentially adverse weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Schedule: This position will start as a 5:00am - 2:00pm position M-F.? However, the schedule will be fluid as mill evolves.

This schedule may also vary due to workload, weather, and Holidays. Possible Saturdays.

License/Certification:

• Driver's License
• Experience operating a tractor/trailer for yard use
